Demonstrations Student Association in Malang City Disbanded Due to Violating the Covid-19 Health Protocol and Damaging Police Cars

    MALANG, - In commemoration of International Women's Day, dozens of students who are members of the FMN (National Student Front) together with the Alliance for the Women's Movement with the People (GEMPUR), AMP elements, Free West Papua, Monday (8/3/2021) morning,  At around 09.00 WIB, a demonstration was held in front of the Malang City Hall / DPRD Office.

    In the action, in addition to unfurling posters and banners, dozens of the protesters also gave speeches.

    When giving speeches, they expressed a number of attitudes aimed at the central and regional governments.

    Among them, destroy capitalism, legalize the PKS bill & create gender-based social welfare, fight and destroy sexism and capitalism, legalize the PKS bill / eliminate sexual violence, now also grab the rights of women workers who are deprived of tyranny.

    In addition, rejecting the special autonomy volume 2, the solution is a referendum for West Papua, withdrawing the Indonesian military from all over Papua.

    "Kitong is asking for independence, not asking for special autonomy. Stop the coup end military dictatorship. Provide safe space for Papuan women," shouted the protesters.

    These demonstrators also distributed leaflets to road users passing around the Malang Gajayana stadium.

    At around 09.30 WIB, officers from the Malang City Police and the Malang City Government Satpol-PP appealed to the demonstrators to stop their actions because they did not have permits.

    Moreover, currently it is still in the mass of the Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as the implementation of Micro-scale PPKM.

    Kapolresta Malang City Kombes Pol Leonardus Simarmata urged the protesters to disperse immediately because currently it is still a Covid-19 Pandemic.

    So that the demonstrators were taken to the Malang Police Headquarters for examination.
